About Brent Barina Land Management

---

Shredding your pasture (also known as pasture mowing or bush hogging) offers several important benefits for pasture health, forage quality, and livestock management:

Weed Control

• Shredding helps suppress unwanted weeds before they go to seed, reducing their spread.
• Repeated mowing weakens perennial weeds over time.

Improves Forage Quality

• Encourages new, tender growth of grasses, which is more palatable and nutritious for livestock.
• Reduces old, fibrous, or over-mature growth that animals avoid.

Manages Grass Height

• Maintains a uniform sward height, promoting more even grazing and reducing selective grazing behavior.
• Helps prevent grass from becoming too tall and lodging (falling over), which can smother desirable grass.

Promotes Plant Health

• Stimulates tillering (new shoot growth) in grasses, thickening the pasture.
• Helps maintain desired forage species by reducing competition from less desirable ones.

Improves Pasture Appearance

• Makes the pasture look cleaner and better managed, which is especially important for properties open to visitors or used for rotational grazing.

Controls Insect and Parasite Habitat

• Reduces tall, moist areas that can harbor parasites like ticks and flies, helping to improve animal health.

Fire Risk Reduction

• In dry climates, shredding removes excess dry plant material, reducing the risk of wildfires

We construct new driveways using aggregates that best fit your needs.  We also renovate old driveways to remove  pot holes and ruts.

If you need hay hauled; we can do it.  We can also use our tractor to load and unload if needed.
